On April 3, Bisbee High School senior, Michael Hernandez received the Fred Corrin Memorial Scholarship from the Bisbee Foundation. The scholarship was presented by Brenda Morales, the president of the foundation's board, at the high school. Michael plans to use the $48,000 scholarship to study biomedical engineering at the University of Arizona in the fall.
The Bisbee Foundation is the administrator for the Fred Corrin Memorial Scholarship, granted annually to a graduate of Bisbee High School. This scholarship, funded by an anonymous donor, honors Fred Corrin, a dedicated mathematics teacher, district administrator, and tennis coach who significantly impacted many Bisbee students throughout his career. It offers $12,000 per year over four years, amounting to a total of $48,000. Students apply during their senior year and start meeting the requirements in their freshman year at BHS.
The foundation recognized five additional students, awarding each a $1,500.00 merit scholarship. These students are Isabella Solis, Destiny Rodriguez, Nevaeh Serrano, Michael Flores, and Eduardo Navarrete Martinez.
