The Love of Learning Mini Grants are designed to help teachers provide K-12 students in the Bisbee/Naco schools with extra for learning projects, activities, or programs. Up to $250.00 is awarded to teachers each year.
Completed application must be received by The Bisbee Foundation no later than Friday, November 1, 2024 with funds available the fourth week of November.
Vici Seaver, special education teacher at Naco Elementary, received a LOL grant for the 2023-2024 school year and used her funds to purchase a sewing machine, storage case, and all the sewing notions needed for her classes stuffed animal project.
Students were read the story, "Golden Threads" by Suzanne Del Rizzo, a story that takes place in Japan and is inspired by the Japanese art form of "kintsugi" or golden joinery, where broken pottery is mended with golden glue.

The story is about a child’s stuffed toy fox that is lost and torn up in a storm. Later the toy is found by a different family and carefully repaired. Finally, the toy finds its way back to its original owner and new friends are made in the process.

Ms. Seaver states, "The project was well received by students, teachers and administration; consequently, I will be continuing focusing on life skills in our resource classes in the 2024-25 school year as well."
The Bisbee Foundation looks forward to awarding Love of Learning grants to all Bisbee/Naco teachers!
